9th-Nov-2009 12:27 pm - Writer's Block: Instant attraction
bw jemma

Do you think romantic chemistry is instant or evolving? Have you ever given someone a second (or third) chance and lived to regret it? Have you ever fallen in love with someone you didn't particularly like or desire at first?

I think people confuse chemistry with physical attraction. IMO, there is a vast difference betwen the two. Physical attraction is that instantaneous feeling you get when you see someone you think is attractive. You don't have to know anything about them. You just find them hot. Chemistry runs deeper. It's that connection you develop with a person based on your common interests and desires, that feel good sensation you get by being with them, coupled, of course, with physical attraction.

I've definitely fallen for somebody that I wasn't interested in at first. It's my usual mojo. I'll befriend a guy and then the attraction develops later. It's like a light switches on one day and I realize how attractive that guy is. Of course, I've never had the feelings reciprocated, so the second question doesn't apply. :/

In typical Cassie-fashion, I've been completely shirking any updates on my personal life. So last Friday I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. They were all impacted, and even though the oral surgeon was forthright and said that I might never have an issue with them, I thought it would be best to take them out whilst I'm still young and can heal quickly. So the procedure went by without a hitch. I even thanked my nurses afterward for taking good care of me, which made my dad tear up. I guess he was touched that I would thank the people who had just inflicted pain on me, but my rationale is they were just doing their job. Not their fault if it hurts like hell. Lol

Once again in typical Cassie-fashion, I got home and fainted from God knows what--lack of blood, the anesthetics wearing off, etc. Not that anybody was particularly freaked out by this. I'm the queen of fainting. I've passed out six or seven times in my short 23 years of life. Plus, I had managed to sit down and calmly inform my mother that I was about to faint, so she was well-prepared to handle me. :p

The rest of the weekend/week has flown by without incident. The swelling has gone down a lot, and if you didn't know what I looked like you probably wouldn't notice anything wrong with my face, except for these two uniform bruises on each of my cheeks. My major complaint right now is that the Vicodin is making my head fuzzy and I can't think/talk/write with my usual level of clarity.

Oh, and in case you're wondering about the title of my post . . . I thought I would enjoy eating loads of ice cream and milkshakes with impunity, but I am positively sick of them. I want REAL food. A fat, juicy steak would be nice. Too bad I couldn't chew it right now. If I never drink another milkshake in this lifetime I'll be quite all right (and I'm sure my waistline concurs with me).

• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
• Update your journal with the answers to the questions
• Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

[info]sunnytyler001 asked me:

1. What is your favourite Daniel/Betty moment?
That's a tough one. The whole season one episode "In or Out," cemented my love for the pairing. There was that great karaoke bit, where they sang "I Got You, Babe," and then Daniel's famous declaration to Betty, "You're better than a model." But I also really enjoyed when Daniel told Betty she was beautiful in season three. And then there was the season four premiere. I really felt like they had taken a step forward in their relationship. :)

2. Rogue/Wolverine or Rogue/Gambit?
I prefer Rogue/Wolverine in both comic and movie-verse, but I am not opposed to Rogue/Gambit. I just feel Rogue/Gambit has a tendency to get sappy and melodramatic. *shrugs*

3. Who is your favourite writer?
*Cries* I don't know. There are too many talented people in this world. I LOVE Shakespeare, Jane Austen and Fyodor Dostoevsky. I think they all had their off days, but their good stuff far outweighs the bad. :p

4. If the Master & Rose had met, what would have happened?
I think the Master would have used Rose in some way to get to the Doctor, whether by manipulating her against the Doctor or by kidnapping her and threatening to kill her. If Rose had been manipulated, it would only have been for a short while, because she's far too awesome not to figure out something's amiss with the Master's thinking. Ultimately, the Master would discover that the Doctor and Rose have too strong of a bond to be permanently separated, and he would run off to sulk, his plans momentarily foiled. :)

5. With Betty becoming a beautiful butterfly and a successful editor and Silvio Horta starting to deny his previous statement about no Daniel/Betty, do you think the end of Ugly Betty might be close?
Yeah, I do. It's hard to say what came first: did Horta recant his declaration because the ABC producers told him his show was coming to an end this season? Or did the creative team decide to go with the Detty pairing and then the ABC network told them this was the final season? I also find it suspicious that despite the low ratings UB has been getting, ABC has made no mention of cancelling the show. If the network knew this was the last season they could be graciously letting the show end properly instead of prematurely pulling the plug.

I just found out my grandmother passed away. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I'm numb at the moment, like I'm in shock, which is silly because I knew she wasn't doing physically or emotionally well.

I must admit that I've never been close to any of my grandparents. My mom's parents were emotionally distant, while my Dad's father died before I was born and his mother lives far away and we rarely ever get together. I guess I'm mostly upset for my mom, because even though she didn't approve of some of the things her mother was doing, she still loved her. And I'm feeling really badly for my dad, because he's the one who discovered the body. (He also was the only one present when his father passed away. Talk about emotional baggage.)

Anyways, please keep me and my family in your thoughts and/or prayers.
7th-Sep-2009 12:04 pm - Update on My (Un) Interesting Life

Friday I took off work and went around with my sister and mom on errands, which included another job interview for my sister at the Salvation Army (fingers crossed). Since I just ripped a hole in my khaki shorts in the seat no less, we decided to look around the Salvation Army for a used pair. No luck. So we went off to Kohl's, where I found a great pair of capris on clearance, because it's the end of the season. And then, because lately I can't enter a clothing store without buying something (what has happened to me?), I bought two gorgeous knit tops and an adorable dress, which my sister thinks is hideous. My mom loves it though, and even pointed out that it would work well with my knee-high boots. Yay, Mom!

My birthday was Saturday, and I had a fun day playing my new board game (CLUE: Secrets and Spies!) which I beat my sister at three times. I also went to Starbucks and got one of the pumpkin lattes, which are to DIE for. *nods* My sister got me a heartfelt card that almost made me cry and season one of the Nanny (Oh, Mr. Sheffield!). My parents got me Bones Season Two, per my request, and then as an added surprise, two Doctor Who novels. My sister told my mom which of the Ten/Rose books I didn't have yet, and she got them both. How sweet. :) Then we went up to Frankemuth, which is this awesome community that resembles a quaint German town. We went miniature golfing (I didn't win, but that's ok) and then out for a yummy chicken dinner at the famous Bavarian Inn. If you don't believe me, just google Bavarian Inn and Frankemuth, and see what comes up.

In case you haven't figured out from my posts, my sister is my BFF and my Mom runs a close second, with my dad in a nail-biting third place. Yup, I'm weird.:D

Yesterday, taking [info]everytimeyougo's encouragement to heart, I posted the first two chapters of my story The Break Up on fanfiction.net. Which was a pain in the butt. Apparently IE no longer works on fanfiction, so I was reduced to using foxfire, which I loathe with the burning passions of a hundred suns. I don't know why, but I do. So there. But, at least I finally got it working. Lol.

Random Note: Haven't I ever heard that less is more? I have far too many icons. I couldn't figure out which one to use for this post. xD
